Brake Repair

When it comes to brakes, almost everyone knows the importance of brakes, and making an on-time stop is the most essential feature in cars. A good functional brake system will reduce the risk of a frontal accident. This is why it is very important to have your brakes checked by a technician periodically. Brakes are maintenance items, which means they need to be replaced approximately every 25,000 to 65,000 miles. Front brakes are more active in stopping the vehicle and that’s why they wear faster than rear brakes. Rear brakes normally need to be replaced between every 60-90,000 miles. Also, brake fluid service is essential. Since brakes are driven by hydraulic force, it is imperative to do brake fluid service every 24 months or 24,000 miles. This service includes flushing the old brake fluid and replacing it with new fluid.

Brake Maintenance & Repair Experts

Well, brakes are the one item that needs more attention when it comes to maintenance. Here is the “break” down of your braking system;

  • Brake Pads; they are replaced more often than any other components, each wheel has 2 brake pads. When you apply the brake, front brakes do most of the work and they wear faster than rear brakes. This is why they need to be replaced sooner than the rear brake pads. Driving habit has a lot to do with brake pads replacement, too many hard stops make the pads wear off faster.
  • Rotors; the rotor disk between 2 pads and play an important role in stopping the vehicle as well. When you apply the brakes and you hear a squealing noise or your steering wheel shaking, it is your rotors, they are worn or they are warped, it’s time to replace them.
  • Brake calipers, are the housing that keeps brake pads in place and allows brake pads to contact the rotor. Bad rotor can cause a variety of issues
  • Brake fluid, a low or old brake fluid also can make braking hard, low brake fluid can make the brake pedals soft and harder to stop, bad or old brake fluid can make your brake pedal go all the way down and also can be hazardous. BMW recommends doing the brake fluid flush every 24000 miles.
  • Brake booster, the brake booster amplifies the pressure from the pedal to the brake system and when they are not functioning properly, your brake pedal feels so stiff and hard to stop the vehicle. It is uncommon, but we have seen that more than a few times.
  • ABS System, stands for Anti-Lock Brake System. What it does is give the driver the ability to steer with locked wheels during a hard brake. BMW models, 2003 or newer, are less likely to have an issue with the ABS. Even with older ones (E38, E39, and E53 chassis), we have the means to re-build them instead of replacing them with a new one, at a fraction of the cost and the same warranty for new parts from the factory (12 months or 12,000 miles)

Our multi-point inspection includes the functioning of your brakes, also, using a high-tech chemical test can tell us about your brake fluid quality by measuring the copper deposit in the fluid. The visual and by driving your BMW we can come up with the report for your brake pads and rotors. Even when you come in for regular maintenance, we will inspect your entire car at no extra charge.

I’ve been taking my cars to these guys sinxe 2013. Even when I moved to Gilroy, there’s nowhere there or in between I’d rather take my cars too. They kept my daily’s running optimally but also had an extensive knowledge in the realm of performance for my fun cars.

Best place for any BMW ISSUES. If you got any issues with your BMW vehicle come here. I visited here after a referral by a friend and they took amazing care of me. From the moment you enter they treat you genuinely like a friend and not try to overcharge like dealerships. They will show you exactly what's wrong and even recommend the best way to move forward. Amazing rates. They have in me a customer for life.
